This Sunday, December 20th, after all your Christmas shopping madness, come down to Eastside Luv in Boyle Heights at 8:00 p.m.  Relax, order yourself a beer or wine and allow four distinctive writers to entertain you with some new literature.

Books and Beers is attempting to create a venue for independent writers. An outlet where man/woman can read with no holds barred on subject matter or language. It’s only proper to hold such an event at a bar.

Eastside Luv is a perfect location:
- only seconds away from downtown LA,
- across the street from the Gold Line Mariachi Plaza stop,
- beer on tap and a good wine list for the wineaux in you.

The authors will be sharing their souls with the audience and will have their books available for purchase.

Come down and drink a few!! Here is the list of authors that will be reading this night:

Jim Marquez is the author of nine self-published books & is Literary Editor of “Citizen LA”, a monthly arts & culture magazine out of Downtown Los Angeles serving the City of Angels. Born & raised in East LA he is a proud graduate of East Los Angeles College & Cal State LA. Jim taught English/ESL for 15 years, backpacked across Europe, solo, 8 times, and his new book “Citizen Me? LA Stories” is due out January 2010. Visit his books @ www.LuLu.com/JimMarquez & www.Facebook.com/JimTheBeastMarquez

Linda Gamboa has been an active member of the Los Angeles Chicano Arts community since the early 80s as a visual and video/photographic performance artist. Her debut into the poetry scene came at the age of 34 during the early heartbreak years of life as a single mother. Linda’s writing has been described as bold and honest while her delivery has been likened to a one two punch of reality with a pinch of humor. She has conducted poetry workshops for various community arts organizations including The HeArt Project, Inner City Arts, L.A. Cultural Affairs Master Storytellers Series and Plaza de la Raza among others. After a four-year break from producing and participating in readings and spoken word performances she is back to reintroduce old works to new audiences and share new words from the perspective of a 50-year old Chicana from Boyle Heights who just earned her abuela status.

Rafael Cardenas just recently became comfortable with the title, “writer.” Being published in Citizen LA on a monthly basis has snowballed into other writing activities and challanges. He started his own website EastsiderWriter.com where he shares cultural and every day happenings with his three readers. He is a huge fan of both; books and beers.
